Somme Cemeteries

Martin Middlebrook’s Somme Battlefields records that there are 243 cemeteries on the Somme battlefield, of which 135 cover the 1915-16 period. This part of the website lists the major ones with details and photographs and mentions some of the characters buried in them; Somme men who found their graves in Picardy.

British Cemeteries

British cemeteries are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and are the most numerous on the Somme Battlefields. The main ones connected with the 1916 fighting are listed here:
